Recent rain could hurt water conservation message

The El Dorado Irrigation District is ramping up efforts to get the public to conserve water over the next month, or it will be forced to raise rates.

"If they conserve, then the board won’t be looking at doing a (drought) surcharge of 15 percent," said Mary Lynn Carlton, the director of communications for the EID.
